Meryl Streep To Play Margaret Thatcher

Meryl Streep as Margaret ThatcherJuly 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Meryl Streep is all set to play the role Margaret Thatcher for an upcoming movie called ‘Thatcher’. Meryl Streep will reportedly get together with her ‘Mamma Mia’ director Phyllida Lloyd for the film where she plays the controversial role of the first female British Prime Minister. Though none of the cast has been revealed yet there is speculation that Jim Broadbent will be asked to play the role of Margaret Thatcher’s husband Denis Thatcher.

The film will reportedly focus on Margaret Thatcher’s career during the Falklands War in 1982. It will show how she struggled to keep her career before the war and how she gains back the popularity. The victory in this war was said to be the biggest turning point in the career of Margaret Thatcher. After this she went on to win the second term. The war against the Argentinians claimed several lives but it saw Margaret Thatcher’s party attain victory in the 1983 General Elections.

Meryl Streep is considered by many to be the most talented and respected Hollywood actresses at the moment. With a total of 16 Academy Award nominations Meryl Streep holds the record for the most nominated actresses of all times. Apart from her immense acting talent, Meryl Streep was also nominated in the Grammy’s for her singing in her last movie ‘Mamma Mia’. She has also won the most Golden Globe Awards after her win for ‘Julie and Julia’. She has earlier proved herself to be the master of the English accent in the film ‘The French Lieutenant’s Wife’.
