With a broadcasting of two episodes on the NBC from June 21,it seems that the new Merlin series is already gaining a lot of popularity.
Catering to the teenage inclination towards the fantasy genre, the series deals with the wizard legend Merlin belonging to the time of King Arthur. Besides being a mythical fiction, it deals with cute regular problems of teenagers like hesitation, competition and interaction with girls. Since its the first import from the British series of the same name, anticipation over this American series has gone high.
Colin Morgan who plays the lead says that he had a thrilling experience while shooting for the series and tells that though the series is based on Merlin, it throws light on the other characters, specially King Arthur who emerges out to be not so wicked as he is apparently shown.
The American television has been showcasing science and fantasy fictions for quite a long time. Moreover, many are drawing comparisons of the Merlin series with the hugely popular Harry Potter. Thus expectations surrounding it has soar high. What is more interesting is to find that the director has intended to portray a boy-next-door,who shedding off his garb of commonality and awkwardness emerges to be a hero after knowing that he possesses magical powers from birth and lands in Camelot where his adventure begins.
With already two episodes, namely, “The Dragon’s Call” and “Valiant” being shown, this mini series complete with 13 episodes, is soon to gain popularity among teens.
