Utah, Mar 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Relatives and friends of Mike Starr have held a public memorial in honor of the late ‘Alice in Chains’ bassist. A friend of Starr found his lifeless body at his home in Utah on the 8th of March.

The family had put the funeral off to allow the medical examiner to conduct further tests on the body. The results of the test were not made available to the public. At the time of his death Starr was taking methadone and anti-anxiety drugs.

The 44-year-old was recently arrested for drug possession in Salt Lake City. When officers pulled him over on that fateful day, they found twelve pills in his car with no accompanying prescription. He was briefly put in jail for the offence.

During the memorial on Sunday songs from the catalog of ‘Alice in Chains’ were played. The public event was held at the International Fountain and attended by friends, families and fans.

Starr’s family has announced that they would be having a private and public funeral after the body has been released by the coroner’s office.

Starr was a member of the cast of “Celebrity Rehab”.
