Los Angeles, Feb 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Melissa Leo has changed her story surrounding her Oscar campaign.

The 50-year-old actress in an interview with Deadline seemed to take full responsibility of the ad. She said then that, “I took matters into my own hands. I knew what I was doing and told my representation how earnest I was about this idea. I had never heard of any actor taking out an ad as themselves and I wanted to give it a shot.”

That story seemed to have changed now. During a recent interview with Daily Beast, the actress claimed that it was not her idea. Rather she points finger at Paramount and said that she went along because they wanted her to.

Leo has been nominated for an award in the supporting actress category. She was seen as one of the frontrunners to pick the award but she seemed to have blown the chance when she launched the ad. The ad infuriated other Academy members when it came out.

The campaign seemed more like an attempt to coerce the organizers of the awards. It showed the actress with the word “consider” strategically written above her. Some argued that the ad was meant to be humorous but it was not everyone that was amused.
