Mel Gibson’s last film

Mel Gibson Mar 16 (Pen Men at Work): Actor, director, producer and screenwriter Mel Gibson has revealed the fact that he will be directing Leonardo di Caprio in his next project about Vikings. Gibson who said that this was the first film he ever thought of making and had in his mind since he was a teenager. He also told that this might be his last film as a director.

Gibson who won an academy award for directing Braveheart in 1994 said that he wants to make the movie “real” with the characters speaking in “old Norse” and showing “whatever the 9th century has to offer. He said that he became fascinated with Vikings while studying history of English literature as a teen and wondered what they would sound like, how would they talk.

Screenwriter William Monahan who has written The Departed and Edge of Darkness as well the 2005 Ridley Scott film Kingdom of Heaven in past, has been working day and night on the screenplay of the film which will be produced by Graham King.

Gibson has denied any speculation of starring in the film like he did in Braveheart but producer Graham King said that there might be a chance that he appear in the film.

Gibson 54, might have said that his Viking epic will be his farewell to Hollywood, but people around him say that he is too restless as a creative being and would not be able to retire completely from filmmaking.
