melMexico, Apr 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to reports, actor Mel Gibson will donate the sets of the film he is currently shooting for to a museum in Mexico. The Governor of Veracruz, Fidel Herrera confirmed the news.

Sets for Mel Gibson’s film “How I Spent My Summer Vacation” were built inside the Ignacio Allende prison located in the Mexican Gulf Coast state of Veracruz. As many as 1500 prisoners had to be transferred to other prisons in order to make room for the sets of the film. In fact this is the same prison which will be converted into a museum after filming of the movie is over said Governor Fidel Herrera.

Mel Gibson who had also filmed his movie “Apocalypto” in the port city of Veracruz, is believed to have donated sets from that movie to the city as well.

The announcement was made by the actor at a pre-Oscar function in Los Angeles in the month of March with Governor of Veracruz, Fidel Herrera and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by his side. Mel Gibson said that the sets would serve as tourist attractions for the island in future.

Mel Gibson will be in the city of Veracruz for a few more months for filming his action thriller “How I Spent My Summer Vacation”. The movie shows the actor as a criminal who has to adopt new methods of survival once he is put into prison. Although officials in Veracruz are overjoyed at what Mel Gibson’s contribution has done for its economy, the actor faced flak when families of dislocated prisoners complained about the move that was taken.
