Los Angeles, Aug 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Although it seems that luck is not in favor of actor-director Mel Gibson who is having a bumpy ride in his personal life; the actor got lucky recently when he escaped unharmed after his 2008 Maserati crashed into a rocky hillside in Malibu. The California Highway Patrol office on Monday released a statement confirming that Mel Gibson had crashed his car at a place west of Los Angeles on Sunday at around 8:35 p.m. and held that the actor has not been charged with the DUI.

The statement by the California Highway Patrol mentioned that the Mel Gibson was riding alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash and no other vehicle was involved in the accident. The statement mentioned that Mel Gibson was driving neither under the influence of alcohol nor was he found intoxicated with any kind of drug. California Highway Patrol (CHP) Public Information Officer Leland Tang said to media sources that the actor has told to the officers that he did not know how he lost control over the wheel. Leland Tang maintained that Mel Gibson has denied using a cell phone at the time of the accident. However, the actor does not have any particular reason for the crash. When asked whether he had fallen asleep, Mel Gibson could not provide any definite answer but repeatedly emphasized that he has no idea how the car left the roadway.

However, this is not for the first time that Mel Gibson had surfaced in the news for car related incidents. Back in 2006, the actor was charged with DUI and was ordered three years probation. The actor then went for alcohol rehabilitation and paid $ 1,300 as fine.
