Mel Gibson London, Jan 11 (ANI): Mel Gibson has angered relatives of inmates from a Mexican jail after 300 prisoners were moved out so that he could shoot his movie there.

Fights broke outside the prison as dozens of relatives protested at their family members being bused away to other facilities.

Gerardo Duran, director of the Ignacio Allende prison in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, said the inmates were being moved to four other jails.

Relatives said that the decision would mean that they would have to travel longer distances to pay visits and bring food and clean clothes.

Around 1,200 prisoners remain at Ignacio Allende, only part of which has been emptied for the filming, reports the Telegraph.

In early December, Fidel Herrera, the Governor of Veracruz, told Mexican journalists that part of the jail would be emptied because” our friend, the actor and producer Mel Gibson” would film a “grand production” there.

Gibson is believed to be filming an action movie called How I Spent My Summer Vacation, for which he has written the screenplay, at the prison.

He had previously made his 2006 Mayan-language epic Apocalypto in Veracruz and has made substantial donations to local charities. (ANI)
