Shakuntalam Film’s hit show on Color’s Naa Aana Iss Des Laado, based on the practice of girl child infanticide is gaining popularity with every new episode. Meghna Malik who portrays the character of Ammaji in the show maybe playing a devilish character but she does feel for this inhuman practice which take place in some places of India, even in today’s times, “In today’s modern time also, there are still many villages in India where female infanticide is practiced. In places like Haryana, Rajasthan et al, people still prefer boy child over girl child, which is sad as the ratio of girl child is lowering year by year. I am happy that I am part of such a show where I am able to connect with the masses and let them know what is good and wrong.”
On being asked if she has ever been confronted by anyone for playing such an evil character, Meghna says, “I am one of the luckiest vamps as till date nobody ever has come up and asked why I am so rude and heartless. I think they know that I am just playing a character.” - Sampurn Media
