Megamind sets the box office on fire
November 8th, 2010 - 7:07 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, Nov 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Will Ferrell’s “Megamind” movie premiered over the weekend and grossed the highest amount on the weekend. The animated comedy grossed some $47.7 million in the box office over the weekend. For that feat, the movie finished the week as the No. 1 premiered movie for the week.
The movie’s voice cast included that of Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill. That was a strong outing for “Megamind” and Ferrell’s wish of seeing the movie at the top was realized. However the No. 2 highest grossing movie also debuted very strongly. Grossing $33.5 million on its debut was Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis’ road-trip comedy.
The much hyped “For Colored Girls” from Tyler Perry was third with $20.1 million. The movie features talents like Whoopi Goldberg and Janet Jackson.
The strong premiering of these movies is most welcomed in Hollywood because most of the movies at this fall have not been doing very well. The three movies managed a whooping $100 million in revenue. It is good for the industry because it still shows that when the movie is good, it will surely attract viewers. That means it is wholly true that interest in movies have changed a bit.
