Media frenzy during Britneys mad night had Clooney fearing escaped convict!January 23rd, 2008 - 5:40 pm ICT by admin
Washington, January 23 (ANI): The coverage that the media gave to pop diva Britney Spears on the day she was hospitalised for a mental evaluation earlier this month was such that it led actor George Clooney to believe that some convict had broken out of prison, and could trespass on his property.
The Hollywood superstar revealed that he just did not have any idea that Britney lived so near to his apartment until the helicopters started circling overhead, following the singers standoff with police.
He says that figuring the media fuss near his home gave him the impression that something more serious had happened.
“I just found out, like, 10 days ago I must live within, like, 300 or 400 yards from Britney Spears. I found out because I came home at 10 o’clock at night and there was all these helicopters over my house with these lights, Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
The actor thought that his property was in danger from a criminal.
“I think, ‘Someone’s broken out of prison…’ I get my baseball bat, which is what you always get in every film, and I called up my assistant, who I thought was in my guesthouse, he said.
“I said, `Are you OK?’ She’s like, `Yes.’ I said, ‘If there’s someone in the place, say the word Stonehenge,’ and she’s like, ‘What the f**k are you talking about?’” he added.
Eventually, he realised that his home was safe. (ANI)
