215px-jcs_us_coverBloomfield, Mar 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) McKenzie Music Studio will be reviving the fervor of classic rock opera with the staging of “Jesus Christ Superstar”. The iconic opera which has been performed on numerous occasions by many a different theater groups across the country will now be re-staged under the support and banner of Smash Burger.

A musical crafted by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, “Jesus Christ Superstar” goes on to relate the political feud that existed between Jesus and Judas Iscariot which had seldom gained any importance in the discussion of Bible. It draws its elements of inspiration from the account of John Gospel’s excerpts of Jesus’ life. The story staggers along with Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem and the slow progress of the events achieves its completion with the Crucifixation of Jesus. The keynote of the play is struck with the chord that moves along as a brooding motif in the drama. The songs that are being used carry the flavor of 20th century mood and environ, with abundant use of abuse which draws in sharp metaphors to the progression of the events. The political episode being depicted has some loosely attached allusions that bears a sharp contrast to the modern life and ends on a mundane note.

The opera however takes a different stance from the actual progression of events that is being mentioned in the Bible. In other words, the bible hails Jesus as the son of god who after his cruel Crucifixation, has actually risen from dead to come back to his followers. However, Jesus Christ Superstar has Jesus as a human being without any shades of resurrection. The Opera shall be held at 7 p.m. Friday on April 9 at Christ Episcopal Church in Bloomfield.
