McCartney named Songwriter of the Year

Washington, Oct 15 (ANI): Sir Paul McCartney has been named Songwriter of The Year at the 29th Annual ASCAP Awards in London.
The event took place on Wednesday (14Oct09), reports Contactmusic.
Coldplay’s Viva La Vida picked up Song of the Year honours at the event while The Ting Tings and Calvin Harris were handed special awards.
The awards presentation honoured songwriters and publishers of the most performed works in the U.S. during 2008.
Other winners event included Phil Collins, who collected his 11th award for his hit In The Air Tonight and songwriter Steve Booker was honoured for his Duffy hit Mercy. (ANI)
