McCartney, Harrison feuded over ‘Hey Jude’ songJuly 2nd, 2008 - 2:01 pm ICT by IANS
London, July 2 (IANS) Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney says the band almost scrapped the hit song “Hey Jude” because he and bassist George Harrison could not agree on the song’s arrangement. McCartney says the recording of the song was chaotic because he fought with Harrison over whose version of the song was better, contactmusic.com reports.
He said: “What started happening, I think, was that I’d started getting on Harrison’s nerves. One prime example was when we were doing ‘Hey Jude’. He started answering my vocals on his guitar. He was filling in all the gaps. Now, what do you say? ‘Er, look, man, do you mind?’ You’ve got to put it diplomatically. But you’ve got to say, ‘I don’t want that in the arrangement’. And certainly in that case, he took umbrage.”
