Maureen O’Hara Hopeful Of Finding New Irish Talents In Acting

220px-maureen_ohara_black_swan_3Dec 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Stalwart Irish actress Maureen O’Hara, said in a recent interview that she wants to find out young acting talents from Ireland and this will be made possible by a drama center coming up in her honor. It will be set up at her home village, said the actress. The upcoming Maureen O’Hara Legacy Centre in County Cork will offer training and facilities to young wannabe actors who want to make it big in the world of showbiz. On Saturday, the ‘Black Swan’ actress kick started the project and a billboard was unveiled. She might have turned old but her glamor and feisty nature are intact as was seen in the ceremony. She appeared excited and said the young and budding actors should be given the platform to develop and showcase their talents and skills.

She was in a jovial mood and joked about her age. A memorabilia of the talented actress will be displayed at the drama center set up in her name. It will showcase newspapers articles, the various screen awards of the actress and stills from her famous films with both solo images as well as images with her co-stars. The actress turned 90 this year, a few months back.

The actress whose original name is Maureen FitzSimons was born in 1920. In her career, she left her mark as a singer as well. She became famous for essaying the roles of independently minded women with high sensibility. In her illustrious career, Maureen O’Hara worked with longtime buddy John Wayne and director John Ford in many successful projects. Her last film was released 10 years back. These days she does not work and has taken a break from silver screen.
