Matt Damon Says His ‘True Grit’ Character Has Nothing To Do With Shia LaBeouf

American actor Matt Damon, whose upcoming movie True Grit is releasing this week, has been facing quite a lot questions these days because of his character’s name in the film. Damon’s character’s name is Texas Ranger La Boeuf, which sounds quite similar to young American comedian Shia LaBeouf.

True Grit is a movie by Coen brothers that tells the story of a 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross, who hires a tough US marshal Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn to search the killer of her father Tom Chaney. However, she accompanies him along with Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Matt Damon) and they start trek into the Indian Nations. LaBoeuf has his own purposes to find out Chaney.

The movie gives Matt a chance to show his comic side through his character, LaBoeuf, which is pronounced ‘La Beef’. On the similarity, Damon jokingly said that it has nothing to do with Shia until he changes his pronunciation to ‘Le Beef’. The 40 year old actor added that initially he thought it to be ‘La Buff’ but the book, which is the base of the film, is very clear that it should be pronounced ‘Le Beef’.

However, Matt did not forget to praise Shia saying that he could see the potential in him after working with him in Project Greenlight.

Well, it’s better that the actor has cleared the things if it got stretched further.
