New York, March 05 (ANI): It looks like actor Matt Damon is not happy with the way US President Barack Obama is running the country.
On CNN’s ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’, when Piers Morgan asked the actor if he was happy with the way the President has been running the country, Damon - who endorsed Obama in 2008 and hit the campaign trail on behalf of him — simply responded, “No.”
“I really think he misinterpreted his mandate,” the New York Daily News quoted him as saying.
“A friend of mine said to me the other day — I thought it was a great line — I no longer hope for audacity,’ ” referring to the title of the President’s autobiography.
Damon, a Harvard University dropout, said he appreciated that the President is a “deep thinker” but he “definitely wanted more.”
During the interview, the disenchanted actor slammed the nation’s education system, Obama’s State of the Union address and the war in Afghanistan.
“The idea that we’re testing kids and we’re tying teachers’ salaries to how kids are performing on tests, that kind of mechanized thinking has nothing to do with higher order. We’re training them, not teaching them,” Damon said.
On Afghanistan, he said: “I don’t think the mission there has been very well-articulated. And I think it would help to kind of reframe the way we’re thinking about being there and why we’re there.”
And he was disappointed Obama didn’t even say the word ‘poverty” during his State of the Union addreses.
“You’ve got millions of people languishing in it,” he added. (ANI)
