Sep 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The problems are far from over for the much awaited ‘The Hobbits’. The film is in the making for a very long time and despite several attempts on the part of the producers getting the cast ready just seems impossible. The project hogged headlines when ace director Guillermo del Toro left it after it got delayed for long. It remains to be seen if Peter Jackson takes that job finally. The latest buzz surrounding the project that is doing rounds in the industry is that Martin Freeman may essay the role of Bilbo Baggins in the film. The sources have also said that the actor was approached and subsequently refused the offer. He is committed to complete the shooting for the BBC series “Sherlock” where he essays the role of Dr Watson.

However, MGM is willing to get the actor roped and negotiations with him are still going on according to the latest updates. MGM and New Line have reportedly approached the actor with a new schedule that will slow him to do the BBC role and also bag the main role in The Hobbit without any inconvenience. The studio does not want to waste more time after losing one of the most talented directors. It has been reported that actor Ian McKellan has also threatened to walk out of the project if it gets more delayed.

The Hobbit fans are hoping that the actor says yes to the offer this time and the movie which has been bugged by long delay would get on the track. The actor himself however has not said anything on the issue.
