Martin Freeman Roped In To Play Bilbo Baggins In “The Hobbit”

hobWellington, Oct 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) English actor Martin Freeman who has won wide acclaims for his role in the television series “The Office” is all set to play Bilbo Baggins in director Peter Jackson’s upcoming project “The Hobbit.” The Oscar-winning director confirmed Martin Freeman’s addition to the star cast through a statement that was released recently.

While talking about his decision to cast the 39-year-old British actor to edge the J.R.R. Tolkien character, Peter Jackson said that he had no doubt in his mind that Martin Freeman would be the perfect choice and so he had never even considered any other actor for the role. The ace director also hinted that he felt “The Office” star was born to play the pivotal character in the “Lord of the Rings prequel” while adding that in spite all the rumors and speculations, there had always been just one Bilbo Baggins for them. Peter Jackson also went on to say that he was extremely proud to announce that Martin Freeman’s would be edging the role in his upcoming venture.

While Martin Freeman has been selected to play Bilbo Baggins, ‘Spooks’ actor Richard Armitage would be edging the role of Thorin Oakenshield, who is the leader of the dwarves and actor Rob Kazinsky is also joining the star cast. Meanwhile, in the wake of the industrial dispute in New Zealand, the filming of the movie might shift to United Kingdom, Peter Jackson’s wife Fran Walsh has revealed to a radio station. However, the New Zealand government is reportedly trying desperately to prevent the production from moving offshore.
