September 22, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Mark Burnett, the TV producer is reportedly set to produce a talk show for OWN, Oprah Winfrey’s cable channel. The talk show is likely to be aired on weekdays disclosed a representative of the channel.

The network did not reveal too many details but said that the show would be having a panel format and will be featuring a number of hosts. It is likely to be somewhat similar to ‘The View’ say the sources. The unnamed show is also likely to be aired on the channel in January next year. The format may see a change as the show is still in the early stages of being developed.

The New York Post had reported the possibility of the talk show being aired on OWN, first.

Burnett who has many credits including ‘Survivor’ and ‘The Apprentice’ was signed by the channel in order to produce a new show titled, ‘Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star’ which would be engaged in finding the next big television personality. He had also clinched the deal for the talk show last week. However, the sources could not confirm it with him as he remained unavailable for comment.

Winfrey’s new channel, The Oprah Winfrey Network known by its acronym OWN will become functional 1st January onwards. It is a joint venture effort of Winfrey’s Harpo Inc. and Discovery Communications Inc. and will replace the Discovery Health channel on TV. Winfrey’s very own syndicated show, ‘Oprah’ is moving towards its end after enjoying a tremendously successful run of 25 years.
