Apr 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard will be replacing Carla Bruni Sarkozy in the upcoming Woody Allen project. Reportedly, Woody Allen had selected Carla Bruni Sarkozy for his movie claiming that she was his first choice. But now Woody Allen is keen to cast Marion Cotillard who made it big at the Oscars with her movie “La Vie en Rose” where she had essayed the role of Edith Piaf, a French singer.
When asked about his decision to replace Carla Bruni Sarkozy, Woody Allen said that it is to be taken into consideration that Carla Bruni Sarkozy happens to be a first lady and that she could be drawn off by her responsibilities which might be a spoiler for the project. In the movie, Marion Cotillard will be paired alongside Rachel McAdams and Owen Wilson, who have already been signed for the movie. However, the rumor is strong that Carla Bruni Sarkozy will still form a part of the project as a cameo.
The upcoming movie happens to be one out of the Spain’s Mediapro three-picture deal which they had signed with Woody Allen’s Gravier Productions following the 2008 box office hit “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” Marion Cotillard’s latest release “Nine” which stars Daniel Day-Lewis and Penelope Cruz has been critically acclaimed and Marion Cotillard’s performance has been well received and appreciated by one and all. Besides the Oscar, the actress had already won a Golden Globe and the prestigious Bafta Award for her role in “La Vie en Rose”. The actress has also been in the news for her relation with director and actor Guillaume Canet.
