WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) — Three chest X-rays of the late actress Marilyn Monroe were auctioned and sold for a combined amount of $45,000 on Sunday, Julien’s Auctions announced on Monday.

The front chest X-ray was sold for $25,000 while a side view one was sold for $10,000 as well as a third. The auction house initially expected to sell them for around $1,000 to $1,200 each. The auction took place in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The X-rays were taken after Monroe’s divorce from baseball legend Joe DiMaggio in November 1954 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los Angeles.

In the same auction, the chair used by Monroe in her last photo shoot session was sold for the extravagant amount of $35,000.

Julies Auction’s specializes in the auctioning of entertainment memorabilia and high profile estate. It has partnered with Sotheby’s and Christie’s in the past in the successful multi-consignor sales of celebrity’s memorabilia.
