Los Angeles, Mar 1 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 18 year old son of singer/performer Marie Osmond has tragically committed suicide by jumping eight stories to his death. The young man, Michael Blosil, had apparently been fighting depression for quite a while before making the fateful decision to end his life on Friday night.

Blosil was reportedly supposed to spend Friday evening going out with a very close female friend in the Los Angeles area, but instead of meeting her, he sent her a text message at 9 pm, telling her that he had left a note in his apartment. She rushed over to the apartment, and alerted his roommates about the note. They let her in, but it was too late, as they heard the sirens and saw emergency vehicles arriving shortly after she arrived.

Marie Osmond has gone into seclusion and asks that the press respect her need for privacy. She is said to be “finding solace in her faith and family,” as quoted by her friend Mary Hart who was on the CBS “Early Show” this morning. “And I find tremendous grace in her own words: ‘I really believe that it’s the lows that make us who we are. It’s not the success. It’s how we handle all that…” Hart told CBS. “You can bet she has loving arms around her,” added Hart. “The Osmonds are a very close-knit family and, in times of loss or tragedy, they support each other and really band together as a family, and in love.” Donny and Marie’s show at the Flamingo Hotel in Vegas has been canceled until Marie feels she is ready to return. Marie did make this statement, “My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael, and ask that everyone respect out privacy during this difficult time.”

Hart also shared that Blosil (who was one of Marie’s 5 adopted children, she has three biological) had struggled, and been in and out of rehab. Hart said that she had seen Blosil just a month before and he and Marie had both been extremely excited about him attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA. Hart said that at that time Blosil seemed very happy and upbeat, and seemed to be looking forward to the future. Everyone is still completely stunned by his suicide.

Many thoughts and prayers are going out to the family and Marie during this tragedy. May God be with her and comfort her.
