Marie Osmond turned down Grease offer due to bad girl role

- London, Nov 28 (ANI): American actress Marie Osmond has revealed that she turned down an offer to star as Sandy in Grease, because she did not want to play the role of a bad girl.
Osmond, 50, was at the height of her fame in 1978, when film bosses approached her to play conservative student Sandy Olsson.
But producers were forced to hand over the role to Australian actress Olivia Newton John after Osmond insisted she didn’t agree with playing a character who turned bad to get her man.
And Osmond doesn’t regret turning down the chance of being part of the hugely successful movie.
“The script came to me, and (it) was much edgier then what Olivia came up with,” the Daily Express quoted her as telling Fox News.
“But I was at a place in my life where I wanted to have children and I didn’t like the fact that the girl had to turn bad to get the guy.
“I think the guy has to work hard to get the girl, that’s what I believe,” she added. (ANI)
