“America’s Got Talent” had its first “results episode” of the season on Wednesday, August 5, at 9 p.m ET/ PT on the NBC networks and to the delight of the audience present as well as the viewers, singing diva Mariah Carey made an appearance on the show for a scheduled performance.

Carey performed to the rhythm of her newly released single, “Obsessed” that is from her soon to be launched album “Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel”, which is scheduled to be released on August 25, 2009. The diva’s presence and fabulous act perhaps successfully subdued the high flying anticipation that had been doing the rounds of the sets of the show.

Out of the ten acts that was performed for the episode, five made it through and five got eliminated. Show’s host Nick Cannon welcomed his wife, Mariah Carey, on the show and it already uplifted the entire gloom in the set, that is usually a feature on elimination days.

The audience goes still when Nick asks Acrodunk and Breaks8 to step up, as the moment of revelation comes up. It was not much of a surprise for the audience though when Acrodunk made it past the tough competition and advanced to the next round. Breaks8 had given somewhat of a stellar performance in the auditioning rounds but lost the flow of things while on the podium. It was therefore, not really very shocking to see them bid adieu to the show.

All three of the judges pitched in for the tiny dynamite of a package that is Thia Megia.
