Mammootty’s Drona falls flat on box office
February 1st, 2010 - 6:50 pm ICT by Sampurn WireFilms named “Drona’ seem to have carried a jinx along with them and have mysteriously always failed to work. Abhishek Bachchan’s big budget Bollywood film “Drona’ was a disaster and even down south, the fate for films named “Drona’ hasn’t exactly been good.
While naming Mammootty’s film, “Drona’, the makers were a little worried about the jinx and decided to add a 2010 whimsically. However, judging from the audience’s response to the film, the “2010′ hasn’t done any good for the film either and looks like it’s doomed to go downhill. The film isn’t doing well currently and it doesn’t look like it will gear up soon either.
According to critics and filmgoers, the film, despite having style, lacks the necessary punch and the dialogues aren’t very strong. The script is being called weak and the scriptwriter A K Saajan is to blame for it. While its theatrical run may not be very long, some profit is expected to be made while its satellite rights will be sold.
“Drona’ is expected to get back at least its production cost as Mammootty’s next film, “Pramaani’, is set to release within two months.
