September 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Pakistani cricket Mohammad Asif became talk of the town when he was signed to act in the Malayalam movie “Mazhavillilinattamvare’. But, the recent match-fixing controversy about the cricketer has led to his expulsion from the movie.
The movie is believed to dealing with the life of a cricket coach, who travels from Lahore to Kannur with a personal aim. The Pakistani fast bowler Asif was signed to play the central character. Famous lyricist and debutant director Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri has written and directed the movie.
The movie was likely to go on floors in this September but now this real problem has put the project on hold. However, the director has not panicked after Asif was caught in a match-fixing scandal. He said that he has already thought of two or three Pakistani cricketers as an alternative to Asif.
Asif had undergone a screen test in London before signing the movie. He was supposed to fly down to Kerala for a 25 day shooting schedule in next month.
The music of the movie will be composed by Kaithapram’s son Deepanguran. A Sharjah based business man named A. Mukundan will be producing the movie under Valuvankadavu Creations banner.
Hope the director soon signs another Pakistani cricketer as the central character and viewers can see the acting skill of the Pakistani cricketers!
