Thiruvananthapuram, March 30 (IANS) Two of the seasoned actors of Malayalam cinema, 75-year-old hero Madhu and 63-year-old heroine Sheela, were supposed to team up in “Perumal”, but it has been put off. “We were to play the lead roles, but now it appears it won’t happen. It is okay because things like this do happen in the film industry,” said Madhu, who also worked in parallel movies like “Swayamvaram”, told IANS.
Thespian Madhu has been informed by those associated with the new film that Sheela is unable to do the role as she is in the US.
Madhu and Sheela played the lead roles in 1965 legendary Malayalam film “Chemmeen”, which won the Indian President’s award for the best film. After the film’s success they became one of the most sought after pairs in the Malayalam film industry.
Sheela, the glamour girl of sixties and seventies, took a break and returned a few years back with “Manassinakkare” in the early 2000 and since then she is active in the industry.
In 2005, the two acted together in “Thuskara Veeran”, but it was superstar Mammootty, who played the lead role, walked away with accolades.
