Major GarrettAug 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a latest development that has created ripples in the US media circle, Major Garrett the chief White House correspondent of Fox News Channel has announced that he is going to leave the network. After his 8 year log stint with the network he is all set to join National Journal. Prior to joining Fox Network in the year 2002, he worked with CNN, U.S. News & World Report and Washington Times. He is going back to his forte, print journalism. He said in his statement that it would be sort of homecoming to him.

Fox network on its part has not named his successor yet. It is likely that other White House reporters namely Mike Emanuel and Wendell Goler will take his place. He will quit Fox by the next week. The network shares a volatile relation with the Obama administration as the latter accuses it of being a voice for the GOP. Major Garrett took an interview of the US president last year in November. He said that in his career he believes in focusing on the reporting part and not on political leanings.

He also made it clear that he was not a part of the ongoing rivalry between Fox network and the Obama administration. However, he also admitted that the tension made his job tight to an extent. Robert Gibbs the White House press secretary praised his skills saying he was a competent reporter in the briefing room. Apart from him National Journal has acquired Matthew Cooper the earlier correspondent of Time. He is looking forward to joining his new job.
