Mumbai, May 20 (IANS) Mahindra Media and Entertainment Business, part of the automobile major Mahindra and Mahindra, has tied up with the NGO Biascope, which imparts film based knowledge, to launch an initiative that will enable budding screenwriters try their luck in Bollywood. They have roped in directors and writers like Anurag Kashyap, Shriram Raghavan and Anjum Rajaballi to unearth hidden screenwriting talent from across the country.
The initiative, called Sankalan, will solicit entries of concepts for feature films. The final 24 participants would be selected for a one-to-one pitching session, said Mahindra Media COO Indranil Chakraborty.
According to Kashyap, the script is the most important element of a film.
“Today, with the advent of new technology the production values have improved but without a proper script it is of little use. Hence, we are conducting this talent search,” he said.
After the pitching session, 12 participants will be selected for a workshop. Six will be selected from among them to write the first draft of a script. Of the six, three will be finally mentored by Kashyap, Raghavan and Rajaballi.
