Mahindra Blues Festival to host global stars
January 6th, 2012 - 6:11 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Jan 6 (IANS) Grammy award winners Buddy Guy and Taj Mahal Trio along with guitarist Robert Randolph, musician John Lee Hooker Jr, Serbian guitarist-singer Ana Popovic and Indian band Soulmate are set to perform at the second edition of the Mahindra Blues Festival in Mumbai next month.
The festival will take place Feb 11-12, giving Blues lovers an opportunity to treat themselves to some of the very best from across the globe.
The participating names will not just entertain crowds with their performances, they will also host insightful workshops and deliver talks at the festival, to be held at the famous Mehboob Studios in Bandra, Mumbai.
The festival is an attempt to popular the genre of Blues music in the country, said Anand Mahindra, vice chairman and managing director, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
“Our presence in various international markets helps us in transplanting local performing arts to other geographies thereby connecting communities around the world. The Mahindra Blues Festival - now an annual event and in its second year - is one such endeavour that seeks to promote a genre that has yet to receive the recognition it deserves in India and around the world,” Mahindra said in a press statement.
Chicago Blues veteran and multi-Grammy winner Buddy Guy will be on his second visit to perform at the festival.
