Sep 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bollywood’s gorgeous beauty Lara Dutta is no more single. The stunning actress finally made it public to the media that she is engaged to veteran tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi. The Indian tennis ace announced the news to the media through the homepage of his social networking site where he maintained that he and Lara Dutta got engaged in New York last week.

The couple previously denied their link ups to the media. When asked Lara Dutta used to avoid the question saying that she and Mahesh Bhupathi are just “friends”. It seems that the reason for their hush-hush affair was Mahesh Bhupathi’s divorce with his ex-wife Svetha Jaishankar and he needed to sort things out. Now that Mahesh Bhupathi and Svetha Jaishankar parted their ways, the player can easily announce his affair with the actress. In the micro-blogging site Lara Dutta also confirmed the engagement by replying to Mahesh Bhupathi’s statement with a smiley. The media frequently spotted the couple in public previously and even they appeared in this year’s Filmfare Awards function.

Mahesh Bhupathi walked out of his six years of married life with Swetha Jaishankar in July. However, the gossip portals report that Svetha Jaishankar had blamed Mahesh Bhupathi for having an affair with Lara Dutta back in June, before the divorce had come through. Before Mahesh Bhupathi, the “Andaaz” actress had dated Kelly Dorjee for eight years and then she was even linked with Dino Morea. When Svetha Jaishankar made allegations against her for having an affair with Mahesh Bhupathi, the actress denied it saying that she started seeing the tennis player a year after he had separated from his ex-wife.
