Malawi, Apr 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Pop star Madonna visited Malawi with her family to lay the foundation stone for the ‘Raising Malawi Academy for Girls.’ She has already adopted Mercy and David Banda from Malawi, and now her gesture is going to affect the lives of other children of Malawi as well. For laying the foundation of the Academy, she has brought her family there as well.

“It is with tremendous joy that I return to Malawi to lay the first brick in the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls. By educating girls, we will rebuild this community and raise this nation,” she wrote in a blog post for ‘Raising Malawi’. She also added that she wants to stop the brain drain that is happening to most of the African nations. She also revealed that she has interacted with the Malawi children many times, and has also been fortunate enough to see a steely determination in their eyes, that they want to build a good future for themselves and for their nation as well. So Madonna thinks that if only the means and the tools to do so, are handed over to the children, then they can certainly make a mark for themselves. She concludes, “It is with hope for a bright future that I am here. Tomorrow, the brick I will lay is not just the bedrock to a school—it is the foundation for our shared future.”
