mad1Lilongwe, Malawi, Apr 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It seems pop queen Madonna is busy all this week with a lot of charity work lined up in Malawi. The pop singer who had adopted two kids from the country has reached Malawi before the packed week long charity schedule, reportedly.

The singer according to her schedule which was made public by her charity “Raising Malawi” visited the Millennium Village which lies in the west of Lilongwe. Millennium Village is a United Nations’ venture in the central border district. On Monday, she visited the village along with economist Jeffrey Sachs who had laid the plan of the U.N. Millennium Village.

On Tuesday, the singer will however lay the first brick of the foundation of a $15 million academy for girls. The academy which will be named “Raising Malawi Academy For Girls” is scheduled to open its gates for girls in 2011. Madonna had earlier mentioned that she was devastated to see thousands of orphaned kids in Malawi due to the death of their parents from AIDS. According to her, the academy will help to educate the girls of the nation and try to rebuild the nation through them.

Madonna had in the recent past indulged in many charity projects in the African country. She had also previously adopted two children from Malawi who are accompanying their mother on her trip. However the plan to reunite the kids with their natural family suffered a setback when it was found that five year old Mercy James’ father had reportedly fled the country. David Banda’s father however is excited about his son’s visit and said that this will give him an opportunity to meet his new stepmother along with his brother and sister.
