The event was scheduled for a special tribute for MJ by her sister Janet. But what made the event an epic one, was the pop Diva Madonna taking the stage to pay homage to the star whom she called “one of the greats”. The show commenced with a heart-wrenching speech from the pop diva who remembered a dinner date she had shared with Jackson in the year 1991. “I was hellbent on getting him to eat French fries, drink wine and say bad words, things he never seemed to allow himself to do,” said Madonna. “Yes, Michael Jackson was a human being but damn it, he was a king. Long Live the King,” added a teary eyed Madonna.

The event also witnessed Janet Jackson, the sister of Michael Jackson performing their hit duet “Scream” as a tribute to her brother. The scheduled performance of Janet took place soon after Madonna ended her emotional speech that comprised of distant memories of moments that Madonna and Jackson had shared together years back.

“There’s a whole lot of crotch-grabbing and Moonwalking going on in my house,” said Madonna revealing that both the sons of the pop diva are huge MJ fans. Madonna’s speech was lauded by the audience with a standing ovation.

Amidst all the speculations and controversies that made VMA’s an eventful one, Madonna’s tribute to MJ will be written down in the golden books of history.
