May 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): It’s turning to be a heavy downpour of romantic entertainers in Kollywood now. Followed by the grand successes of “Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’, “Angadi Theru’ and “Aval Peyar Tamizharasi’, here’s a new-patterned tale of romance in “Madharasapattinam’. Set in backdrops of ancient Chennai of pre-independence era, the film revolves around a British Governor’s daughter who falls in love with an ordinary Indian Dhobi.
Leaping with laurels for his extraordinary performance as an agora in National Award winning film “Naan Kadavul’, Aarya plays the role of a Dhobi and a wrestling champ in this film while British actress Amy Jackson, winner of Miss Teen World stars opposite him in female lead role.
The highlighting trait of this film will be the awe-inspiring sets of ancient Chennai raised by art director A. Selva Kumar. A.L. Vijay, who made his debut directorial with “Kireedom’ and won rave reviews for his family entertainer “Poi Solla Poram’ (remake of Hindi film “Khosla Ka Ghosla’) has directed this period film.
G.V. Prakash had stunned us with his spellbinding musical score in “Aayirathil Oruvan’ and is back with a big bang. All the songs have already topped the charts and trade analysts have labeled “Madharasapattinam’ as the highest selling album.
The audio launch of this film was recently held in Chennai with Kamal Haasan and director Shankar releasing the music. Nirav Shah, the close associate of Aarya has cranked camera with unique tones and filters to bring out unique visuals. Anthony, who is well known for fast-cuts, has used a different style of edits and Pattanam Rasheed has worked on artists’ makeovers.
The producers of AGS Entertainment have planned to release the film in June.
