Washington, April 8 (ANI): Pop queen Madonna has made a “substantial donation” for supporting relief efforts in Pacentro, Italy, which was struck by a devastating earthquake of 6.3 magnitude on Monday.
The Mayor of Pacentro had made an appeal for help to Madonna, whose paternal grandparents lived in there until 1919.
The quake left more than 200 dead there.
While no official information is there as to how much donation Madonna has made, a source says that it is about 500,000 dollars.
“I am happy to lend a helping hand to the town that my ancestors are from. My heart goes out to the families that have lost loved ones or their homes,” People magazine quoted Madonna as saying. (ANI)
