Washington, July 16 (ANI): Music legend Sir Paul McCartney returned to the famed Ed Sullivan Theater to stage an outdoor concert on Wednesday, as part of his appearance on the ‘Late Show With David Letterman’.

The Ed Sullivan Theater is the same building where McCartney’s former band ‘The Beatles’ made their U.S. debut about 45 years ago.

Presently, Letterman hosts his nightly talkshow there.

McCartney’s appearance on the show marked his first interview with the renowned chatshow legend.

He told Letterman how the small gig brought the memories flooding back.

“You know, I was just thinking today when we first came here, we’d never seen this kind of thing. TV studios in England were kind of all on one floor, the makeup was next door to this,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“But here, it’s like an apartment block - you know, you go to makeup and you take an elevator five floors, then you go to wardrobe and you come here. But, yeah, just the memory of being here is great. It was kind of scary the first time,” he added.

In 1964, the Fab Four were invited to perform on Ed Sullivan’s music show on three consecutive Sundays, and the slots led them to land their first number one stateside with I Want To Hold Your Hand. (ANI)
