London, Aug 30 (ANI): Singer Sir Paul McCartney has apparently revealed that he was not the expected singer of the James Bond theme ‘Live And Let Die’ but Dame Shirley Bassey.
He said that after he’d recorded the much-loved theme, producer Harry Saltzman expected Dame Shirley Bassey or someone else to sing it.
Sir Paul told MOJO magazine that he’d always wanted to write a Bond theme.
According to Macca, when Saltzman heard the track, he asked producer George Martin-who he planned on having sing the “finished” version-for his opinion.
“He said, ‘That’s a great demo but who are you thinking of getting to sing it?’ He was thinking of Shirley Bassey,” said Paul. (ANI)
