Paul McCartney New York, Apr 12 (ANI): Nancy Shevell’s romance with Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney seems to be affecting her professional life.

Shevell, who’s a board member of New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, has been missing more meetings than any of the other 12 full-voting members.

She has missed four board meetings since January 2008.

“She started out as a contentious board member, but I think one of the key attributes of a board member is being there,” the New York Post quoted Gene Russianoff of the Straphangers Campaign as saying.

“If she’s going to be a director of the MTA, she needs to put in the time,” Russianoff added.

Since she has started dating McCartney, Shevell has failed to attend 24 committee meetings, including the last 11 dealing with financial issues dating back to April 2008.

Shevell flew down to London to attend a movie premier with McCartney while the board members approved 23 percent fare hikes.

She again skipped a panel meeting to attend a London party with McCartney, his daughter Stella, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

She also missed the voting on whether emergency vehicles should pay bridge and tunnel tolls.

Shevell was appointed to the board in 2001 by former Gov. George Patakia and her term expires in June 2011. (ANI)
