Lyle Lovett performs at the White House
November 22nd, 2011 - 11:04 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington, Nov 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Country music singer Lyle Lovett was among several other stars who performed at the White House as part of the “In Performance at the White House Concert.” It was the second time that the event has taken place at the White House under the Obama administration.
Several other stars including Alison Krauss, Kris Kristofferson, Darius Rucker, Lauren Alaina, The Band Perry, James Taylor and Dierks Bentley performed at the event which was watched by the Obamas.
Before the performance, Lovett spoke about the influence of country music in the 21st century and beyond. She said that, “In this age of hyper-technology… the days of someone growing up out in the country and being exposed to one type, one particular type of anything are over… We live in an age where we’re able to experience influences from just all around.”
With the performance, Lovett has become one of the privileged singers in the United States to have played for three presidents. She played for President Bill Clinton, President George Walker Bush and now President Barack Obama.
She indicated that she is not a partisan personality and supports whoever is chosen to run the country.
The event will be aired on PBS on Wednesday at 8 p.m. E.T.
