With Baa, Bahu Aur Baby taking a seasonal break, Lubna Salim aka Leela Bhabhi is on a much needed sabbatical, “I am taking it easy. It’s quite a different experience not working.” She is not worried that the few months break, which this 4 year old weekend show will take before returning as a daily will turn off viewers. “I don’t think so for as we will return with a new avtar. There will be large promotional activities centered around it. In a way we will be targeting a bigger share of the audiences as daily soaps are a different ball game altogether in terms of viewership budgets etc,” believes Lubna.
But will not turning daily mean that you will have to compromise on your story to meet daily soap requirements? “I don’t think so for Star Plus has taken a big risk knowing that you cannot tinker with the basic structure. We suddenly cannot make look Praveen good or Meenakshi bhabhi smart. Where we can alter is the outer appearance. But here too we have never gone down the road of mangulsutra and designer saris and the producer’s have assured us that will not. Luckily too, the day of the saas bahu is over. Tell me which such show is working anyways. Times have changed and audiences want something different. Accordingly BBB will also change, we will now concentrate more on the younger generation,” she ends. -Sampurn Media
