Lou Jacobi Manhattan, Oct 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Lou Jacobi has died at 95 years. He was known for his funny comic roles and won praise for dramatic roles in movies like ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’. The Canadian-born actor Lou Jacobi died on Friday at his home in Manhattan. A social worker, Leonie Nowitz who was providing him care, confirmed the news.

Lou Jacobi debuted on Broadway in 1955 with “The Diary of Anne Frank”. He played one of the occupants of the Amsterdam attic where the Franks were hiding. He again played the same role in the 1959 film version.

He also appeared in many TV shows, such as, “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and “That Girl.” He was a regular on “The Dean Martin Show” on NBC for two seasons in the early 1970s.

Lou Jacobi’s original name was Louis Harold Jacobovitch. He was born in 1913 in Toronto and began his career as a child-actor.

He married Ruth Ludwin in 1957. She died in 2004. A brother, Rabbi Avrom Jacobovitch, and a sister, Rae Gold, survive him.
