London, Dec 5 (ANI): Harry Potters magic was not enough to beat the Lord of the Rings trilogy in a new list of Britain’s favourite children’s book adaptation.

The movies based on JRR Tolkiens literary series of the same name, emerged the winner in the poll taken to find which books adaptation kids liked best.

The movies based on JK Rowlings books came next in line at the second spot.

Third place on the list went to the adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The top five was rounded off by adaptations of C.S Lewis The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and L. Frank Baums The Wizard of Oz, which came in fourth and fifth place respectively.

LOVEFiLM.com, a DVD rental delivery service that asked over 1,000 members to vote, carried out the poll.

Fliss White, the head of brand marketing, said that every title on the list had managed to recreate the magic of the books.

“It’s hard to recreate the magic of the page on the big screen but every title listed here has managed to do just that,” the Daily Snack quoted White, as saying.

“Whether it’s escapism, adventure or romance - all the children’s book adaptations in this poll have a timeless appeal for kids and big kids.”

The top ten list for Britain’s Favourite Children’s Book Adaptation, as per LOVEFiLM.com is:

Lord of the Rings

Harry Potter

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

The Wizard of Oz

Mary Poppins
