jeni August 12, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Jennifer Lopez may be out as the judge of ‘American Idol’ reports PEOPLE. Fox may have seen red when her demands kept on increasing and finally got out of hand. Fox, then decided to drop her once for all.

The sources stated that she wasn’t really the first choice for a judge. Several big names of the show business like Elton John and Barry Manilow had not given their consent earlier. That was when Fox approached Lopez for being considered as a permanent judge of the reality show. The insider went on to add that Lopez wasn’t even the second or the third choice, let alone the first.

TMZ also reported that Kara DioGuardi had been fired. This was soon after Ellen DeGeneres had announced she was parting ways with the ‘American Idol’. The source also stated that the show had decided on the three judge format, one which had been followed earlier. The permanent panel of judges had then been decided upon as Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez.

Fox had been persuading each one of them then. However, there is no word on the replacement for J’Lo as yet. Representatives of Fox and Freemantle declined to comment on the issue while Lopez’s representative was unavailable.

The chairman of Fox, Peter Rice had earlier stated that nothing can be deemed as set in stone as far as the judge’s panel of the ‘American Idol’ is concerned.

Speculations about the names of the permanent judges have been rife for some time now. Rice, while speaking to the reporters at the Television Critics Association panel said that there have been no signed deals with anybody as yet.
