After 20 years, the music and art festival Lollapalooza is still growing strong. The show has been held every year since 1991 save 2004 when it was not held. When the show came back again in 2005, the organizers promised that it has come back to stay and that seem to be the case.

The festival was first conceived by Perry Farrell in 1991. Music agent Marc Geiger who later became a partner of Lollapalooza promised in 2005 that the festival will be around on its 20th anniversary. During an interview at the time on the subject, Geiger said that, “Someone pulled a quote from 1995 with me where I said, ‘We’re doing this now so we can still be around in 2010.’”

The event will open on Friday the 5th of August and will wrap on the 7th of August. This year’s confirmed lineup include Eminem, Foo Fighters, Muse, Coldplay, Cold War Kids, Deadmau 5, Explosions in the Sky, My Morning Jacket, Modeselektor, Skrillex, Glitch Mob and several other bands.

The event is used to bring contemporary band and hip hop together. Geiger said dealing with so many bands made the organization of the event easy. He explained that, “It’s easier when you’re dealing with more numbers. With 130 bands, you can hit more genres in general, whether it’s folk or techno house, there’s just a bunch of room under the heading of ‘good music.’”
