Lloyd Bridges: Jeff Bridges’ Proud Father

Lloyd BridgesJan 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After the news spread that Jeff Bridges had toppled actors George Clooney, Morgan Freeman, Tobey Maguire and Colin Firth to walk away with the Golden Globe award for the Best actor, the netizens frantically began searching for the veteran actor’s bio . While receiving his award, the actor appeared thankful to his parents both of which have been veteran actors themselves. This has led the 21st century’s netizens in a frenzy of search for Jeff Bridges’ father, Lloyd Bridges, who remained an actor during the 20th century. First and foremost, actor Lloyd Vernet Bridges Jr. has made his presence known in more than 150 films starting with ‘Freshman Love’. Movies like “Red Canyon”, “Our Wife”, “You Belong To Me”, “Three Girls About Time”, “Human of Michigan”, “Riders of the Northland”, “Sweetheart of the Fleet” etc. These are only a few names in his unending list of achievements.

He had his stint on Broadway too, even before he had joined the motion picture industry. TV shows no more remained an alien territory for him, after he went on to act in Sea Hunt, The Lloyd Bridges Show, The Loner, San Francisco International Airport, Joe Forrester etc.

Lloyd Bridges also served in the World War II as a United States Coast Guard. In the 1950s, he was rumored to have been working with Communist Party and was thus blacklisted for awhile. However, very soon the Federal Bureau Of Investigation cleared him of any charges. His death occurred in 1998 when he was 85 years old. He is succeeded by Beau Bridges, Jeff Bridges, Lucinda Louise Bridges and grandson Jordan Bridges.

Undoubtedly, Lloyd Bridges would have been a proud father had he been there to witness his son receive the award on Sunday.
