Lionel Richie to perform at CMA Awards

Los Angeles, Oct 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) American singer Lionel Richie will be performing at the Country Music Association Awards next month. The awards which are used to honor country music singers and performers will be held on the 9th of November.

Richie is one of the most renowned musicians still living today. He is well decorated after coming out with more than 20 hit tracks over the period of his career which spans four decades. He has received five Grammys and an Oscar for his talent as an R&B singer.

The 62-year-old will release his next album titled “Tuskegee” in the first quarter of 2012. The album is named after the Alabama town that he was born in. At the CMA event, the organizers say Richie will perform some of the duets on the upcoming album. Fans will get the chance to have early sneak-peak of the album which will be released in March 2012.

Richie believes he has country roots in him and the album is meant to confirm that. In a statement, he said that, “I was born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama. I am a country boy and proud of it. To do this project just felt natural.”

The singer collaborated with several country singers on the album.
