Washington, Jun 29 (ANI): American actress Lindsay Lohans father has reacted to reports suggesting he has owned up to fathering a lovechild, by saying that he has instructed his lawyers to get to the truth.

Michael Lohan did not deny the fact that he had had a romantic relationship with the teenage girls mother Kristi Kaufmann in 1995, at a time when he and his now ex-wife Dina had separated.

“I met Christie in 1982 in Houston. In 1995, when I was separated from Dina, she contacted me that she was moving to Long Island, Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“She was going through a divorce at the time. I was with her for a week,” he said.

It was while Lohan was in prison, serving time for a DUI and other charges in 2005, that he came to know that Kaufmann had given birth to a child after their romance.

“She contacted me to say she had a paternity test done that revealed the child’s father was not her husband. She said I was the only other man she had been with,” he stated.

But Lohan, a born-again Christian, isn’t convinced he is the father of the 13-year-old girl.

“My lawyers are dealing with this. When we find out the truth we will deal with it in the appropriate manner,” he tells TV news show Extra.

But Kaufmann, who is now married to a real estate agent in Canada, insists her romance with Lohan lasted much longer than he remembers and it’s time he became the father her teenage daughter never had.

“I just want to make sure the truth comes out. My daughter has a right to know who her father is - and it’s Michael,” she said. (ANI)
