New York, Mar 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actress Lindsay Lohan is suing E-trade Financial Corporation for $100 million for their ‘milkaholic’ baby girl advertisement which she claims is modeled on her, without her prior permission. Lindsay Lohan wants $50 million in exemplary damages, and another $50 million in compensatory damages. The girl in the advertisement was also named Lindsay and was also similar in likeness, characteristics and personality; hence the actress is upset, and is suing the company for the invasion of her privacy.
The advertisement had premiered during a Super Bowl, and the Super Bowl had definitely guaranteed it many eyeballs. Her lawyer – Stephanie Ovadia, is representing Lindsay Lohan in this case and she said to the New York Post that, “Many celebrities are known by one name only, and E-Trade is using that knowledge to profit. They used the name Lindsay; they’re using her name as a parody of her life. Why didn’t they use the name Susan? This is a subliminal message. Everybody’s talking about it and saying it’s Lindsay Lohan.”
The New York Post also reported that Stephanie Ovadia wants an order by the court to remove the offending commercial from the air, and they also want all the copies of the advertisement. The advertisement was produced by the Grey Group and their spokesman Chris Brown said in their defense that, they “just used a popular baby name that happened to be the name of someone on the account team.”
